At the Victory Briefs - UCLA debate tournament over the weekend, Senior Bob Overing took 3rd place in Lincoln-Douglas debate. Bob also received an 8th bid/invitation to the tournament of champions at the University of Kentucky for his performance. Bob's 8th bid keeps him in the #1 position atop of the national rankings. Loyola remains #2 overall, behind Strake Jesuit in Houston.
Adam Bistagne was a co-octofinalist with Bob and received his second bid to the Tournament of Champions. He now becomes the fourth debater from Loyola qualifying for this prestigious event. He joins Bob, Senior Tom Placido and Junior Michael Harris as being fully qualified to attend. This is the first time that Loyola has qualified this many debaters to the TOC in a single year. The TOC, hosted by the University of Kentucky is restricted to the top 70 debaters in the country.
Senior Tom Placido and Junior Michael Harris were both triple-octofinalists.
In addition, Junior Justin Fang received 8th place for individual speaking in policy debate at the tournament.
