The Right to Life Club invites the entire Loyola community to pray a decade of the Rosary

for the defense of innocent human life during recess – Wednesdays - in front of the statue of Mary.

 

A group of us men have been exploring the idea of forming a club or CLC that would meet to socialize, pray and support one another to live life to the fullest as God intended it for us.  

If you are interested in joining discussions about life, love, relationships and how God fits in the picture, please come to our last open meeting and let's discern.  After today's get together our brotherhood will meet privately on a weekly basis.  Join while you can.  A303 TODAY AT LUNCH.

 

ATTENTION SOPHOMORES, JUNIORS & SENIORS:   California Scholarship Federation Spring 2012 enrollment begins today Feb. 21 and will continue through Friday, March 2nd. Enrollment is based on Fall 2011semester grades. OBTAIN AND COMPLETE YOUR APPLICATION IN THE COUNSELING OFFICE (A203). Remember….you MUST apply EACH semester!

CAMPUS MINISTRY

Students, faculty & staff are invited to daily Mass celebrated at 7:30 every morning in Clougherty Chapel

Anyone interested in singing or playing for Ash Wednesday mass:  rehearsals are Tuesday + Wednesday morning at 7:30 AM and Tuesday at lunch in Xavier.

 

COMMUNITY SERVICE:     

            Working and Praying for the Common Good

Seniors still missing signed time sheet for Senior Service Project - attached.  Must be submitted to Community Service in order to get credit for the program on the transcript grade (CR).  Due date was February 3.  Now over due.

TODAY  - CSLT all members meeting.  Lunchtime.  CS Center, room 504.  Contact Mario Erpinar for agenda.  New members welcome.

EVERYDAY:   Juniors and sophomore service proposals are accepted by Mr. Zeko and Mrs. Moran in the Service Center. All sophomore and junior service proposals are due by March 1Summer Service Session by special request only before March 1. Proposals must be submitted and accepted before the start of the volunteer hours, if the student wants co-curricular credit for the experience.

ATTENTION SOPHOMORES AND JUNIORS:  We are in need of students to serve as tutors for the HSPT-7 Tutoring Program.  You apply this service (20 hours of volunteer hours) towards your sophomore/junior community service requirement.  If you would like to sign-up, please stop by the Community Service Office this week for information and forms. 

ANYTIME: Community Service T-shirts now on sale for $10 each in the service center, room 504 and next to Cub Corner.


ACADEMICS:

ATTENTION MORNING SAT STUDENTS WHO TOOK MR. NICHOLSON'S MORNING CLASS THE PAST TWO WEEKS:  Today is the first meeting with Mr. Caldwell in Room P206.  Please report to class no later than 2:30 today to begin the Reading/Writing portion of your SAT class training.

MARCH 1 is the absolute deadline to register and pay for AP exams.  All students in all AP courses MUST register for these exams – no exceptions!  Anyone who fails to meet this deadline will receive JUG.  Students should see Ms. Morales in the main office for the proper paperwork.

Attention Freshmen: Any freshman interested in taking AP World History as a sophomore should attend an information session in Xavier Center at lunch on Tuesday, February 28th .

Students in grades 9-12 are eligible for the Best Buy Scholarship Program.  See Mr. Vavra for details.

ATTENTION ALL JUNIORS:  Applications to be a Big Brother are due on Wednesday, February 22nd   Pick one up in Campus Ministry.

Any junior going on the Italy trip this summer, there is a mandatory meeting on Thursday at lunch in L310.

Attention Seniors.  Mount Saint Mary’s College is now having music scholarship auditions.  See Mr. Vavra for details.

Seniors interested in the USC Topping Scholarship should see Mr. Vavra for a brochure.

The application deadline for Buick Achievers Scholarship Program is February 29, 2012. See Mr. Vavra for a brochure.

Seniors of African-American Heritage should see Mr. Vavra regarding a scholarship.

Attention Seniors. St. John’s University in New York City is still taking applications and this university offers some scholarships.   See Mr. Vavra For more information.

There is a scholarship available for seniors attending the University of Michigan next year. See Mr. Vavra for details.

The Cuban-American Teachers’Association is offering a scholarship to high school seniors of Cuban descent.  See Mr. Vavra for a Scholarship application.
