Majorem Society: About

School year: 2010

The Majorem Society is a brand new organization for fathers of Loyola High School graduates. In creating the Majorem Society, President Goethals and organizers Peter Moore, John Monroe, and Abel Torres ’77 hope to have fathers of graduates rekindle old friendships created during their sons’ years at Loyola High School and to forge new friendships with others who share a similar bond.

This year’s event included noted author George Taber ’60, who spoke about the famous 1976 wine competition between American and French wines known as the “Judgement of Paris.” To the surprise of the French, the American wines won—including a well known vintage from Chateau Montelena and Jim Barrett ’44.
